I don’t think anyone is ever prepared to hear they or someone they love has cancer. Even less so, hearing it’s your newborn son.
On October 31st, we discovered Jack had a tumor behind his heart, about the size of a clementine. 72 hours and a biopsy later, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and receiving his first round of chemotherapy. If you’d like to read up on the details on our 32 day hospital stay and follow along as we navigate his recovery, you can subscribe to our Facebook page: Jackson Mesec Updates. For the sake of brevity, I’ll leave the details to that outlet.
Needless to say, the blog has taken the back seat for the time being. Really, our entire lives have taken the back seat. My outlook on life has drastically shifted, as we’ve found ourselves living in a state of survival limbo – day to day, hour by hour.
His prognosis is good, but the road to recovery is a long. We are grateful that the only scars he will have are the physical ones, and have no recollection of what he’s had to endure for the majority of his life thus far.
I ask for your patience as we focus on getting Jack well. Posts will be few and far between, but as soon as we’re through this storm I hope to go back to business as usual – with an added baby flare :).
